Arbor Day

Frady Park in the City of Falls Church is the site of the first Arbor Day celebration in the Commonwealth of Virginia. VPIS holds an Arbor Day celebration every year in celebration of our history and our commitment to keeping a strong tree canopy in the City of Falls Church.

VPIS has provided the leadership to ensure that our community was endowed with a wealth of trees through our Neighborhood Tree Program. Due to our commitment, the City of Falls Church has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for over 40 years.

Upcoming event:

Falls Church City Arbor Day Ceremony on Saturday April 27 at 1 PM at the Berman Park pavilion located at Kent St. and Ellison St, which is just south of Taco Bell. We’ll have refreshments and a 30 minute celebration with the city leaders and a representative from the Virginia Department of Forestry. *In the event of rain the event will be held in the community center.

FC Neighborhood Tree Program tree planting event will immediately follow the Arbor Day ceremony. We’ll have a tree planting demonstration and then split into teams to plant 20 trees throughout Falls Church City. You’ll want to wear gloves, boots or heavy shoes and clothes that can get dirty. The City will provide tools. (In case of steady rain we’ll plant on Sunday 4/28 at 1 pm). Please RSVP to: if you can help plant!
