2022 Fall Membership Meeting Details
DATE: Sunday, November 13th
TIME: 3:00 PM – 5 PM
WHERE: American Legion Post 130, 400 North Oak Street
After a short business meeting (election of new Officers and Directors to the Board, reports from Committee leads on VPIS activities throughout the year, and VPIS comments on the proposed changes to the existing transition zones), there will be speaker presentations focused on efforts to support and improve the existing tree canopies within the City of Falls Church and the region. Climate change and the growth in development (both residential and business) have led to recent canopy declines.
The scheduled guest speakers include Jim McGlone, Urban Forester with the Virginia Department of Forestry; a senior arborist from Casey Trees, a non-profit organization working “To restore enhance and protect the tree canopy of the nation’s capital.”; and, Board Director, Amy Crumpton, who will provide an overview of the Neighborhood Tree Program, a more than twenty (20) year partnership between VPIS and the City to provide free street trees to residents.
A reception with refreshments will follow the meeting and presentations.
